We aim to examine and map the three-dimensional interstellar magnetic fields in unprecedented detail. To this end, we have assembled a team of experts in multi-wavelength studies of interstellar magnetic fields, with a particular focus on observing techniques such as Faraday rotation, dust polarization, and Zeeman measurements, as well as energy and kinematic studies of the interstellar medium.

Magnetic fields play important roles in the formation of clouds and stars. Recent 3D magnetic field studies have enabled us to provide step-by-step formation scenarios for some molecular clouds and to identify previously unknown structures that have interacted with and shaped the magnetic fields of certain molecular clouds. This further highlights the importance of mapping and examining interstellar magnetid fields in 3D.
